Financial Services
Financial services organizations have long embraced both ERP and CRM software technologies. Unique business software requirements for this industry include a focus on consumer (not just business) accounts, the 'householding' of customer data, unique billing and invoicing situations, self service capabilities, significant integration to core operational systems and paramount importance for regulatory compliance (particularly SOX 404 (Sarbanes Oxley) and GLB ( Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999).

Government has become an aggressive adopter of using both ERP and CRM software solutions to achieve improved constituent management, outreach programs, business and economic development, trade promotion, 3-1-1 contact center operations and much more. Back office programs generally focus on reducing cycle times, lowering operational costs and improving time to reporting. Due to different customer types, federal requirements and security implications, the ERP and CRM needs for government and public sector are much different than the private sector. Some helpful resources for the public sector include:

Health Care
Health care organizations have actually been technology laggards and relatively slow adopters of ERP and CRM software technologies. Unique ERP and CRM software requirements for this industry include a system-wide and pervasive focus on patients, an extreme need for ease-of-use, the integration of medical records management, the need for mobile data access and security and regulatory conformance to HIPAA.

Membership and Professional Associations
Membership based organizations are achieving much greater member relationship growth by leveraging ERP systems to automate member billing and use CRM software systems for increased and more relevant member communications, event management and social media or Web 2.0 initiatives.

Software, hardware and other technology companies were some of the earliest pioneers to adopt both ERP and CRM business strategies and supporting business software applications. These industry participants often have special ERP needs in the areas of Project Accounting, Job Costing, Time & Billing and invoicing. They also often need special CRM capabilities to support solution selling methodologies (e.g. scorecards and strategy sheets), multiple step (long duration) sales cycles and nurture marketing campaigns. | ERP Software Forum
